David LaBruyere (or Dela to many in the industry) was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, and spent much of his adult life in Athens, GA. and Atlanta, GA. At the age of three, he started playing the violin, meandering his way through instruments until he found his true calling; bass guitar. He really found his calling by telling a slight lie to a band that he could fill in as a bass player, knowing that he could borrow a bass from his uncle and learn quickly before the gig. Since then he his bass playing has been featured on records for artists including John Mayer, Shawn Mullins, David Wilcox, Howard Tate, Kelly Clarkson, and Sara Evans. He has also appeared on recordings, television and on stage with Elton John, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, DJ Logic, and Alicia Keys. For the past 10 years, David has been living in Nashville as a session musician participating in both full band sessions as well as overdubbing bass tracks for artists in his home studio.
